So Congress is looking at how to tax money made inside World of Warcraft and Second Life. Between $300,000 and $500,000 changes hands daily in SL, so yeah, taxing that sure makes a lot of sense. Maybe if Congress applied the same tax rules to CEOs and corporations, who are worth FAR more, they wouldn't need to shake down kids on the playground.

And then there's the issue that a lot of WoW players (I don't know about SL) are not American. I think there might be a way to sort out which players are USians and thus subject to tax, but that's not particularly fair inside the game, and probably fairly easy to defeat. So does Congress plan on declaring WoW and SL American territories? Planting the virtual flag in cyberspace?

But the REAL question is: Much of the economy of Second Life is from the red light district inside SL. To tax that, will Congress make prostitution legal?
