There's no place I can't be, since I found Serenity

Finally watched Serenity, and

WASH?!?!??!  This is because Alan Tudyk had stolen the big red button from the series, and didn't have it when he needed it, isn't it?

Much less Chinese.  And it was pretty much the Mal and River show, but that's the difference between a movie and an episodic show I guess.

FiL, never having seen the show, liked the movie.  Totally on board with the humor, a little unsure about the cowboys-in-space thing. And he didn't believe that Simon was straight for a second.

Interesting that there was no mention of the Blue Sun corporation, even though we go to the planet with the blue sun.

One of the outtakes had me laughing so hard I was crying.  It wasn't an error, but Nathan nathaning.

Mostly, I was reminded that the thing Joss does best is create people and groups I want to hang out with.  Even when BtVS got painful, they were my peeps and I had to keep checking in with them.  And when the series ended, I really missed Xander and Willow and Giles.  Sort of the same for Angel, but less so.  EXTREMELY so for Firefly.  I missed the crew so much, and it was so great to hang with them for a couple hours.  But wow, upsetting to watch "Objects in Space" and then watch Serenity immediately after, and see how much everyone had aged.  I mean, I've aged a LOT in those years, but they aren't supposed to.  Now I'm back to missing them again.

Yup, to pretty much everything you said. I'm still sort of regarding the BDM as an AU, 'cause in my 'verse Wash is still flying Serenity, eating wife soup, and having hot married sex.

I don't think I've really processed it yet, because how can Serenity fly without Wash? My husband's really upset, because Wash was his favorite, and he was so thrilled to see such a good marriage on TV.

I know! I miss them all so much. It's pathetic, really, seeing as how THEY'RE NOT REAL. The thing about the movie is that it is so very not the tv show. They're very, very different beasts. Which took me a while to get used to, but now I can appreciate it as it was meant to be. I still miss my little show that almost could though.

I miss Firefly SO MUCH. The movie was great and I'm glad we got it, but... I really miss Firefly.

Yup. Just rewatched with the daughter today. Her "is he dead?" was so forlorn sounding. I always cover my mouth at that scene. I'm with arliss, in my 'verse Wash is still flying.

I think I'm going to approach my grieving process with this kind of denial as well...but things hit me, like remembering that Zoe and Wash had just been talking about having kids. Oof.
